We got up early and were shuttled to Augusta GA. At about 8:30am we put our canoe in the river at Lock & Dam Boat Landing. It was cold and the water level was high.
We took a break around lunch along the river. What a beautiful day!
At this point we had paddled about 8 miles. With the current on our side we moved at 5.6 m/h.
Arriving at Jackson Boat Ramp, our first campsite we had plenty time to setup camp and prepared a fine meal.
After a lengthy conversation with locals, it had gotten dark and we turned in.
It was cold.
After a freezing night and morning we finally broke camp and headed down river at about 10:30am.
It was going to be a long day. 27 miles along the Savannah River Site.
Finally we made it to the Savannah Nuclear Power Plant.
Hunter were active that day hunting for ducks and hogs.
It was still a good ways to our next camp site at Steel Creek Landing.
We made it to our next camp site before night fall, setup camp and enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the river.
We heard wild hogs all night, none visited our camp.
It was another cold night and river fog was quite the scenery.
The forecast was not in our favor. Cold and rain for the next two days. We decided the combination of the two where not enjoyable for us. We organized a pickup for the next day and called it a successful paddle.
It started raining just before our ride showed up.
